FAQs

  • A Chinese Medicine doctor is an umbrella term for a practitioner that is qualified to do numerous things! A registered Chinese Medicine doctor is trained to treat and diagnose a range of conditions with a holistic approach. A Chinese Medicine doctor is trained to utilise various treatment methods such as:

    • Acupuncture

    • Herbal Medicine

    • Breathing techniques

    • Moxibustion

    • Cupping therapy

    • Massage

    • Nutritional and lifestyle advice.

  • A first appointment with me will be gaining an in depth understanding of your medical history and current health. I will access any blood tests or refer you to get some specific tests done.

From there, we create a treatment plan to get you from in pain & defeated to energised & thriving!

You will receive Acupuncture in your first appointment with me face to face.

If you are working with me online then we will organise your first herbal prescription.

I have different types of initial appointments. One for those with complex chronic conditions that require more time. A shorter initial appointment that is recommended for those who only have 1-2 main complaints.

A cosmetic acupuncture initial appointment & online Telehealth appointment.

  • Acupuncture is generally painless insertion of fine needles into the skin. It may initially create some ‘nervy’ sensations, which soon dissapates after insertion

  • If your private health cover includes Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine you will be eligible for a rebate.

  • There are various forms of Acupuncture styles, used for many different reasons.

The Acupuncture style used for pain, can look different to the Acupuncture performed on someone for fertility, for instance.

Dry needling is undertaken by a allied health professional who has completed a 2 day dry needling course adjunct to their modality ie; Osteo, Physio. Dry needling is working on releasing muscle tension & facilitate healing of neuromuscular pain. The same needles are used by for different reasons.

In contrast, Acupuncture uses a 3000 year old modality, with over 500 points with various functions with the skills to treat a wide variety of conditions.

Interestingly, all Acupuncture already obtain the skill of dry needler; except we call the technique ‘Ashi’.
